Polish and Ukrainian Christmas carols are one of the oldest folk songs preserved to this day.
It turns out that the history of Polish Christmas songs dates back to the 15th century, and the oldest of them is almost... 600 years old.
In Ukraine, carols celebrating the Nativity of Christ appear as early as the 11th century, but the oldest, folk shchedrivki - szczodraki with rich symbolism, these sung wishes of happiness and abundance, come from the pre-Christian tradition
The main idea behind these recordings was the Volhynian Land. Endless and majestic. Currently divided into two parts - Polish and Ukrainian, but still one. A silent witness of cruel events in the past, brutal murders of people by people. Let's go back even earlier. Until the times when people living in these areas celebrated together. They worked and enjoyed the moments spent together.
Two vocal ansambles operating and performing traditional folk music from Volhynia took part in the recordings. Both from the area on the Polish side and the Ukrainian side. Let's rejoice together. Let music unite. Let it be the glue that soothes anger, destroys hatred and kills all evil in embryo.
Merry Christmas.
